Aidurkal Lake

Lake Aidurkal is a huge manmade lake resulting from water diverted from the Syr-Darya river in the late 1960's. This was one reason for the Aral Sea drying up. Growing until recent years the flow into it has now stopped and it will eventually disappear. It has not been possible to use the water for irrigation. It is around 300 x 30km in size.
